For his leadership and valor, Captain Dill was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Combat Infantryman Badge with Star, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal, The Pacific Theater of Operations Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Notes
Captain Dill was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was the Company Commander of Company M, 3rd Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. On December 2, 1950 he was severally wounded east of the Chosin Reservoir, North Korea and was being evacuated by truck, when the truck was captured by the Chinese. He was listed as Missing in Action on December 3, 1950. He was presumed dead on February 24, 1954. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
