Private First Class Dorsch was a member of Company G, 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. On the night of April 25, 1951, near Munsan, South Korea, a massive Chinese attack overran Company G's defensive position. Although PFC Dorsch was seen being taken captive, he was officially listed as Killed in Action. His remains were never recovered.
