Captain Dove was a member of the 497th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Ubon Airfield, Thailand. On July 12, 1967, he was the pilot of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4D) on a mission over North Vietnam, when his aircraft crashed. His remains were recovered on June 1, 1992 and identified on July 19, 1995. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
