For his leadership and valor, Captain Doyle was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes

USMA Class of 1946, Captain Doyle was the pilot of a F-80C Shooting Star fighter interceptor with the 7th Fighter Bomber Squadron, 49th Fighter Bomber Group. On November 5, 1950, while on a combat mission, he was testing an external fuel tanks. As he fired rockets on enemy positions, the tanks fell off causing his aircraft to crash and explode. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
