Lieutenant Colonel Dyczkowski was a member of the 421st Tactical Fighter Squadron, Korat Air Base, Thailand. On April 23, 1966, he was the pilot of a Thunderchief Fighter (F-105D) on a mission 75 miles north of Hanoi, North Vietnam, when his aircraft was shot down by hostile fire. His remains were recovered on November 19, 1999 and identified on September 20, 2000. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
