Lieutenant Colonel Earll was a member of the 469th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Korat Air Base, Thailand. On October 21, 1966, he was the pilot of a Thunderchief Fighter (F-105D) on a bombing mission Quang Khe, Quang Binh Province, North Vietnam. After releasing his bombs, his aircraft exploded into a fireball and crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
