Seaman Roy Edmonds was born in Irontown, Missouri on December 9, 1899. During World War I he enlisted in the US Navy and was assigned to the Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Illinois. He was transferred to the submarine USS R-21 that departed New London, Connecticut on November 1, 1919 and arrived at Coco Solo, Panama on December 11, 1919. When his enlistment expired he chose to leave the Navy and stay in Panama. He died on March 31, 1940 and was buried at the Mt. Hope Cemetery then re-interred at the Corozal American Cemetery in 1979.
