Sergeant First Class Eggenburg was a member of the 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on September 6, 1950 and returned to duty on September 11, 1950. He was seriously wounded again in North Korea on November 26, 1950 and returned on December 20, 1950. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in South Korea on March 9, 1951.
