First Lieutenant Evans was the pilot of a LT-6G Mosquito control aircraft with the 6148th Tactical Air Control Squadron, 6147th Tactical Air Control Group. On March 12, 1952,while making a low level reconnaissance, his aircraft was hit by ground fire and crashed. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
