For his leadership and valor, Corporal Ewing was awarded the Bronze Star, the Prisoner of War Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Notes
Corporal Ewing was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of Battery C, 38th Field Artillery Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy near Kunu-ri, North Korea on November 30, 1950 and died while a prisoner at Pyoktong, North Korea of pneumonia on February 28, 1951. CPL Ewing's remains have been recovered and identified. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial at Honolulu, HI.
