Major Feneley was a member of the 333rd Tactical Fighter Squadron at Can Ranh Bay, South Vietnam. On May 11, 1966, he was the pilot of a Thunderchief Fighter (F-105D) on a mission over the Gulf of Tonkin north of the Demilitarized Zone, when he was shot down. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
