Major Galbraith was a member of the 11th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron. On December 11, 1968, he was the pilot of a McDonnell Phantom II Reconnaissance Fighter (RF-4C) on a mission 65 kilometers northwest of Tchepone, Laos, when his aircraft was shot down. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
