For his leadership and valor, Lieutenant Garver was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
Notes
Lieutenant Garver was the pilot of a AD-4NL Skyraider night fighter with Composite Squadron 35 aboard the aircraft carrier USS PRINCETON (CVA-37). On June 8, 1952, while returning from combat reconnaissance, the aircraft crashed into the sea, killing him and his radarman. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
