Staff Sergeant Giammarino was a rifleman with Company C, 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Division. On June 27, 1968, he was on patrol to assess bomb damage in the Pleiku area of South Vietnam. He was declared Missing in Action. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
