An 18 year old American man from Cleveland, Ohio serving on active duty as a Fireman Third Class aboard the submarine "USS Bass" (SS-164) during World War II with one year service. On August 17, 1942, while the submarine was submerged, a fire started in the after battery room and spread to the torpedo room killing 25 crew members from asphyxiation from poisonous gas. He was buried at Corozal American Cemetery.
