Notes
Commander Grayson was a member of Heavy Attack Squadron 4, Carrier Air Wing 9 aboard the aircraft carrier USS ENTERPRISE (CVAN-65) in the gulf of Tonkin 45 miles off the southwest shore of the Chinese island Hai Nan Tao. On April 1, 1966, he was the pilot of a Douglas Attack Aircraft Skywarrior (A-3B) over North Vietnam. When launched from the carrier's catapult, the aircraft did maintain air speed and crashed into the Gulf of Tonkin near the ship. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
