Corporal Green was a member of the Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 363, Marine Attack Group 36, 1st Marine Air Wing. On March 26, 1968, he was the crew chief of a Sikorsky Seahorse Utility Helicopter (UH-34D) transporting wounded marines to medical facilities. As his aircraft crossed the South China Sea in bad weather it crashed about three miles from Danang, South Vietnam. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
