Sonar man Seaman Grubb was a crew member of the destroyer USS ERNEST G. SMALL (DD-838). He was Killed in Action while engaged with the enemy in Korea on October 7, 1951, when his ship struck an enemy mine. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
