Colonel Hagerman was a member of the 467th Tactical Fighter Squadron. On November 6, 1967, he was the pilot of a Thunderchief Fighter (F-105D) on a mission over North Vietnam, when his aircraft crashed. His remains were recovered on December 4, 1985 and identified on March 7, 1986. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
