Fireman (E3) Halpin was a member of the Naval Support Activity, Danang, South Vietnam. On September 28, 1968, he was killed when there was an explosion on the landing craft, utility where he was working at Cua Viet, South Vietnam. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
