Corporal Hamrick was a member of Company I, 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in North Korea on November 12, 1950 and died of those wounds later that day. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
