Sergeant Harber was a rifleman with Company E, 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. On July 2, 1970, he was setting up a night defensive position in Thua Thien Province, South Vietnam, the was hit several times by rocket propelled grenades, mortars and satchel charges. After the attack Sergeant Harber could not be found. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
