Staff Sergeant Harris was a member of 128th Aviation Company. On March 17, 1971, he was flying in a Bell Iroquois Utility Helicopter (UH-1H) near Snuol, Cambodia when the aircraft was shot down. He was listed as Missing in Action. His remains were recovered on April 18, 2002 and identified on July 7, 2003. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
