Notes
Corporal Hassel was a member of Company M, 3rd Battalion, 29th Infantry Regimental Combat Team. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy in South Korea on August 1, 1950. He was reportedly murdered in a tunnel near Sunch'on, North Korea on October 20, 1950. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
