Private First Class Hazelton was a member of the 1st Squad, 3rd Platoon, Company B, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division. He was Killed in Action while assaulting Hill 1520 near Toktong Pass and the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea on December 2, 1950. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
