Notes
Specialist, Fourth Class Hoeffs was a rifleman with Company A, 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division. On November 28, 1966, he was swimming with friends about 10 miles north of Tuy Hoa, Phy Yen Province South Vietnam when a large wave swept him out to sea. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
