Lieutenant Holland was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Atlantic Theater of Operation Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the 10 Year Naval Reserve Medal.
Notes
Lieutenant Holland was a veteran of World War II serving as a fighter pilot aboard the carrier USS PHILIPPINE SEA (CV-47). During the Korean War, he was a member of the 851st Fighter Reserve Squadron at the Brunswick Naval Air Station, Maine, training to board the carrier USS TARAWA (CV-40). On August 19, 1953, he lost control of his propeller driven Bearcat and it crashed to the ground.
