Notes

Captain Howell was the pilot of a AT-6D Mosquito observation aircraft with the 6149th Tactical Air Control Squadron, 6147th Tactical Air Control Group. On July 12, 1951, while flying over Ando-ri, South Korea on an air-ground control mission, his aircraft was hit by ground fire and crashed near Ousil. He was taken Prisoner of War. He was presumed dead on March 31, 1954. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
