First Lieutenant Hull was a member of the 20th Tactical Air Support Squadron. On February 19, 1971, he was the pilot of a Cessna Skymaster Observation Aircraft (O-2A) on a mission at A Shau Valley, Laos, when his aircraft crashed. His remains were recovered on August 4, 1993 and identified on August 23, 2006. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
