Private First Class Hunt was a member of Company I, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division. On December 3, 1950, while he was defending his position near the Chosin Reservoir, North Korea, an enemy mortar shell exploded next to his foxhole killing him. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
