Sergeant First Class Hunt was a gunner on an M41 Tank with Troop C, 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. On February 28, 1968, he was engaged in reconnaissance in force just north of Saigon, South Vietnam. When the tank commander stopped to check the ID of an indigenous person, the enemy attacked with rocket propelled grenades killing Sergeant First Class Hunt. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
