Private First Class Hunter was a Light Weapons Infantryman with Company G, 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in North Korea on July 27, 1951 and returned to duty on August 3, 1951. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on September 10, 1951. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
