Hospital Corpsman Third Class Judd was assigned to Company A, 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division. On June 30, 1967, he was a passenger in a Boeing Sea Knight Cargo Helicopter (CH-46A) enroute to Phu Bai, South Vietnam when the aircraft was hit by small arms fire and exploded. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. HM3 Judd's remains were recovered and identified 2013.
