Private First Class Katzman was a member of Company G, 2nd Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy in South Korea on May 17, 1951 and died while a prisoner at Suan Mining Camp, North Hwanghae Province, North Korea on August 31, 1951. His remains were recovered on May 29, 1992, identified on September 9, 2002. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
