Aviation Antisubmarine Warfare Technician, Third Class Kemp was a crew member aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS BENNINGTON (CVS-20). On January 12, 1967, he was a crew member of a Lockheed Viking Anti-Submarine Helicopter (SH-3A) over North Vietnam when the aircraft crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
