Captain Kinkade was a member of the 555th Tactical Fighter Squadron. On September 1, 1968, he was flying in a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4D) over North Vietnam. On September 1, 1968, he was the navigator of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4D) on a mission over North Vietnam, when his aircraft crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
