Colonel Kline was a member of the 421st Tactical Fighter Squadron. On November 2, 1966, he was the pilot of a Thunderchief Fighter (F-105D) on a mission over North Vietnam, when his aircraft crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
