Notes

Lieutenant Junior Grade Knox was the pilot of a F4U-5N Corsair night fighter with Detachment C, Composite Squadron 3, aboard the aircraft carrier USS PHILIPPINE SEA (CV-47). On February 19, 1952, while on a combat mission over North Korea, his aircraft was struck by anti-aircraft fire and crashed at Latitude 38°50' North Longitude 128°00' East. He was presumed dead on May 24, 1954. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
