For his leadership and valor, First Lieutenant Krause was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes
First Lieutenant Krause was a fighter pilot stationed at Kisarazu Air Force Base in Japan. He had flown 96 missions in Korea. On June 2, 1953, he was injured on takeoff from Kisarazu while piloting of a new F-86 Sabre Jet to Korea. He died on June 19, 1953 from a pulmonary embolism as a result of his injuries.
