Aviation Machinist's Mate (Jet), First Class Krech was a member of Heavy Attack Squadron 4 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS ENTERPRISE (CVAN-65). On April 1, 1966, he was the navigator of a Douglas Attack Aircraft Skywarrior (A-3B) over North Vietnam. When launched from the carrier's catapult, the aircraft did maintain air speed and crashed into the Gulf of Tonkin near the ship. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
