Master Sergeant Lane was a member of Command and Control Detachment, 5th Special Forces Group. On May 23, 1968, he was inserted into Laos, west of A Loui, and radio contact was lost. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
