Technical Sergeant Langtry was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was an observer in an OE-1 Cessna observation aircraft with Marine Observation Squadron 6, 1st Marine Air Wing. On July 3, 1952, he was on a leaflet dropping mission, when his aircraft disappeared. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on December 17, 1953.
