Private First Class Maloney was a member of Company I, 3rd Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy near Kumwha, North Korea on October 20, 1952 during an artillery and mortar barrage. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
