Sergeant Mangus was a member of 329th Transportation Company, 5th Transportation Command (Terminal). On November 3, 1970, he was a passenger on Landing Craft Utility #63 that capsized 5 nautical miles south of Tan My port, South Vietnam. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
