Private First Class Marcatante (Midge) was an automatic rifleman in Company B, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division. On October 27, 1950, he was manning an outpost near Kojo, North Korea, when it was hit by overpowering North Korean troops. He remained in place to allow the remainder of his platoon to withdraw. He was listed as Missing in Action and He was presumed dead on October 29, 1953. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
