For his leadership and valor, Corporal Marco was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes
Corporal Marco was a member of Company B, 3rd Engineer Combat Battalion 24th Infantry Division. On August 2, 1950, during a river crossing operation in South Korea, his assault craft sank and he was listed as Missing in Action. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
