Sergeant Miller was a member of Detachment A-105, 5th Special Forces Group. On May 10, 1968, he was defending against a heavy North Vietnamese Army attack at Ngok Tavak, Quang Tin Province, South Vietnam when he was killed. His remains were recovered on September 8, 1999 and identified on March 30, 2005. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
