Corporal Moreno was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Prisoner of War Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Notes
Corporal Moreno was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of Company I, 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War on July 12, 1950 while fighting a delaying action between Pyongtaek and Chochiwon, South Korea. He was taken north during the "Tiger Death March" to the south bank of the Yalu River. He died at An-Dong on May 17, 1951 from malnutrition. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
