Aviation Machinist's Mate First Class Moyer was a member of the Naval Aviation Training Center at the Naval Air Station, Patuxent, Maryland. On March 8, 1951, he was flying in a P4M-1 Mercator Patrol Bomber, when it crashed into the Chesapeake Bay killing four on board.
