Notes
Colonel Nelson was a member of the 355th Tactical Fighter Wing. On July 20, 1966, he was the pilot of a Thunderchief Fighter (F-105D) on a mission over Hoa Binh Province, North Vietnam, when his aircraft crashed. His remains were recovered on September 30, 1977 and identified on October 25, 1977. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
